Literature Text

Another class trial.  You swallowed up vomit.  You were sweating profusely.  Your heartbeat ran rapidly.  Your thoughts were racing; horrible horrible thoughts.  You knew too well someone, one of your friends, would be executed; and that made it all the more difficult.  You trudged toward the elevator; burying your feet in the scratchy sand to make the short trip longer.  But there was just no denying it; you were going to have to kill someone.

As the super duper high school sweetheart you weren’t use to the bloodshed and horror of murder.  The sheltered life you had didn’t compare to the terror of the life you were living now.  Your civilized manor didn’t agree with the savage acts that Monokuma forced you and the others to perform.  It just didn’t work.

You stepped onto the elevator that slowly transported you into the disgusting Monokuma Rock that sent shivers up your spine as soon as you laid eyes on it.  You exchanged glances with the others.  Their glances and looks went as followed: Hajime head was hung down as if he was mourning the loss of a close friend already, Sonia was twiddling her thumbs and the look on her face suggested that she wanted this ordeal to end as quickly and painlessly as possible, Gunham seemed solemn and quit as if his confidence had been drained, Komaeda seemed disturbingly excited as if he was a child receiving a free balloon from a clown, and Kazuichi was biting at his nails and shaking slightly.

You remembered that day when everyone was coerced onto that dreadful roller coaster.  You had never even thought for a second in your life that you would ride one of those monsters.  Yet there you found yourself in the beast, clinging to the motion sick Kazuichi, your head buried in his chest, listening to his rapid heartbeat.  He didn’t mind, nor did he notice.  You watched Kazuichi a bit longer than the others.  Something about him was unkempt and uncivilized, that was for sure.  But he was far more than that.  He was sensitive and caring.  Would it be correct to say that you were falling for him?  No, no it could be that.  You can’t fall for someone like him, someone who objectifies women.

That thought lead you to look back up at Sonia.  You never hated any of your classmates, nor did you have any reason to commit the sin of murder.  But Sonia, she irked you.  She may have been the Ultimate Princess, but the way she acted was anything but.  She spoke in an unclean manor, her hobbies of watching horror movies and researching serial killers, and degrading way she spoke to people (especially Kazuichi) sickened you.

You shook your head, now was not the time to be thinking about your personal thought on everyone else.  Now was the time to decide who the killer was.  Who would you execute?  Who would you lose?  As you entered the trial room you couldn’t help but look back at Kazuichi, he brought you comfort.

The debate began with Hajime bringing up the most important pieces of information.  It then bled into more debate.  Then Kazuichi spoke up, disagreeing with Hajime, then finally being proven wrong.  You never said much in these debates, you might have brought up a piece of information or made a point, but otherwise you were quit and polite.

That is, until Sonia spoke up.  “Silence you pest” she directed at Kazuichi, her hand out as if to say shut up you swine.  This didn’t sit well with you, but it wasn’t enough to cause you to speak up.  You glanced over at Kazuichi who didn’t seem upset about being called a pest, any attention from Sonia excited him.  Was he enjoying her insults?  He was!  The thought made you ill.

Kazuichi remained quit for a little while longer until he spoke up again.  “Quit fool” Sonia snapped out.  Something pop inside of you.  Your teeth were clenched tight, any tighter your teeth would shatter.  “Shut up Sonia”, you grumbled in a whisper.  Everyone turned their attention to you in a state of shock; even Monokuma seemed to be taken aback.  You were never the type of girl who would say something so insulting or rude.  “E-Excuse me (y/n)-san?”  Sonia asked quite meekly.

You couldn’t stop yourself.  “I said shut up.”  You answered her, much louder.  “Stop calling him a pest,” you were screaming now, “What kind of princess calls people a fool?  Who do you think you are?”  Your hands rested on your hips, your eyes slanted in anger, your foot tapping awaiting an acceptable answer.  Everyone was silent.

It then dawned on you.  What have you done?  You questioned yourself.  “So-S-Sonia-san… I’m so sorry.  I can’t believe I just said that.”  You apologized timidly.  “I just remembered something else,” Hajime blurted out, trying to save everyone from an awkward moment.  You didn’t remember much of the trial for you too, were in a state of shock.  All you could remember was the execution that made you want to throw up every time.

It was over, the class trial had ended.  Everything was over, but not that sickening feeling that lingered in your stomach.  The combination of your foul language and the murder you just witnessed was far too much.  You fell onto the sand, on your hands and knees, and became violently ill.  You wiped your mouth only to cover your whole face in sand.  Your whole body shook like there was an earthquake.

All eyes were on you.  Could this get any worse?  You thought as tears started to stream down your sand covered face.  “Hey guys.  Um why don’t you go back to the hotel?  I’ll stay here and help (y/n).”  Kazuichi broke the silence.  The others only exchanged glances and nodded to each other, all of them (especially Sonia) looking perturbed.  As the last person was out of sight Kazuichi turned to you, his cheeks tinted pink like his hair.

“So, um (y/n)-san, um…”  He scratched the back on his head and turned away from you, “Can you stand?”  Your legs were wobbling, shaking violently; there was no way you would be able to stand and he knew that.  He let out a sigh and knelt down next to you.  “So.  I guess I’ll be carrying you,” he sighed and looked away from you, then, as if there was no hesitation, he wrapped his arms around you and scooped you up like you were a child.  Your head was buried in his chest just like when you rode the roller coaster. There was that feeling again.  That warm feeling in your chest, the heating up of your cheeks, you beating of your heart.  What was it?

“So um, what you said back there,” Kazuichi sputtered out, “That was…nice of you” he seemed a bit more comfortable than before.  “I mean no one has ever stood up for me like that.  I’m use to just being walked all over.  So, thanks.” He paused then gave you a small smile.  “Sonia may be nice, but…” he paused once again, “Aw geez, I’m not good with words.”  This made you giggle uncontrollably.  “H-Hey, hey, hey!” He shouted, yet he was laughing himself.  .”

He pulled you close to his face, you could feel his warm breath running down your neck.  He then pulled you a little bit closer, closer, and even closer; until your lips collided, softly touching his.  He then, unfortunately, pulled away.  “I like Sonia, but I think I like you more.”  That’s all that needed to be said.
I don't like this.  I don't like this one bit.  But, might as well upload it.
